A little about Kinsale Silver

Pat's site is here

Dominic dolan has been working in precious metals and other materials for as long as he can remember. Starting out in his fathers workshop, he continued in the west end of London, with some of the larger houses and in the World famous Carnaby St. From there to Rome, where he freelanced as a designer and jeweller.

The first reference to silversmithing in Kinsale dates to 1647, and the "Master of the worshipful company of goldsmiths, silversmiths, cuttlers, braziers, glaziers and other hammermen that work by fire". This tradition has continued through the centuries and through families up to the present day.

The picture on the left depicts a 17th Century workshop, showing tools and techniques that have changed little through the centuries. Many of the tools and bench are still recognisable workshop today.
